You find out who cries at what, and it's never what you'd guess

Neither of us called it in advance, and the shows that actually get us are almost never the "sad" ones everyone warns you about. It's the small stuff — a character finally getting a win after an entire season of nothing going right, a genuinely kind gesture between two people who've been awful to each other all show. The big obvious tearjerker moments barely register anymore. The quiet ones still get us every time.

You develop actual opinions about fictional people, and they're embarrassing

Ten years in, we have genuine, unshakeable, slightly unhinged opinions about characters who are not real. Strong ones. The kind you'd defend at a dinner party. If you've watched enough of our reactions, you already know exactly which ones — we are not subtle about it.

The show picks the mood, not the other way around

Ten years ago we thought you picked a show based on what genre you were in the mood for. Now we know it's backwards — the show decides the mood. Put on the wrong thing at the wrong moment and even a great episode falls flat. Put on the right thing and a mediocre episode turns into one of the best nights we've had on this couch. We still haven't figured out how to predict which is which. We just know when it happens.

We disagree more than you'd think, and it's the best part

If you think two people who've reacted to television together for a decade would be in sync by now — we're not, and honestly, that's the whole show. The moments where we're arguing about whether a twist worked, or whether a character deserved that ending, are consistently the ones people tell us they rewatch.

Ten years in, the couch is still the whole point

Not the shows. Not the numbers. Not even the reactions themselves, really. It's that this is still, after a decade, two people watching TV together and actually meaning it. Everything else we've built — the channel, the Patreon, all of it — exists because that part never stopped being real.
